Ukraine Joins RSF’s International Partnership on Information and Democracy
Ukraine is the 53rd country to sign the International Partnership on Information & Democracy, a coalition initiated by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and the French government in 2019. By joining the partnership, Ukraine has signaled its commitment to building democratic regulations for the international information space.
“Ukraine’s adhesion to the Partnership on Information and Democracy is excellent news. RSF is delighted by this commitment, which shows that despite the blows the ongoing war has dealt to Ukraine’s media landscape, the country still seeks to uphold reliable, quality information — which is essentiel to healthy democracies — on a global level.
Ukraine is the 53rd signatory country of the Partnership and the fourth in the Eastern European and Central Asian region, after Armenia, Georgia and Moldova. Ukraine commits to cooperating with the other member states and the Forum for Information and Democracy, the organisation that oversees the Partnership, by drawing up public policy recommendations aimed at combating disinformation and promoting reliable information.

Ukraine’s adhesion to the Partnership on Information and Democracy was one of RSF’s key recommendations in the 2023 roadmap RSF presented to Ukrainian authorities to strengthen the country’s media landscape, which has strained under political pressure since the beginning of 2024.
