RSF appoints Clayton Weimers as Executive Director of its US office
Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has appointed Clayton Weimers as the new Executive Director of its Washington-based US office. Weimers will oversee RSF’s engagement across English-speaking North America as part of its mission to promote the freedom, independence, and pluralism of journalism globally.
“Expanding RSF’s impact in the United States is a top priority and we’re very excited that Clayton will be leading this next step. Since joining RSF as Deputy Director of Advocacy, Clayton has proved himself as a fierce defender of press freedom,” said Christophe Deloire, RSF’s Secretary General. “We’re looking forward to seeing the Washington bureau further develop under his leadership.”
Clayton Weimers previously served as the RSF’s Washington-based Deputy Director for Advocacy. In that time he has engaged with stakeholders in Congress, the US government, the NGO community, and the media to advance RSF’s global and American campaign priorities. He has also served as spokesperson for the Washington Bureau. He holds a B.A. from Pitzer College and an A.M. from the University of Chicago.

RSF is an international non-profit organization that has been working for 35 years to promote and defend journalism around the world. Through its Paris headquarters, 13 international bureaus and sections, and network of correspondents in 130 countries, as well as consultative status at the United Nations, UNESCO, the Council of Europe, and the International Organisation of the Francophonie, RSF has the experience and on-the-ground presence to effectively defend journalism on a global scale.
RSF USA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit governed by a board of directors and an advisory board composed of 17 eminent figures who bring together immeasurable experience in media. The Board of Directors is led by Chair Elizabeth Colton, PhD, Treasurer Emmanuel Saint-Martin and Secretary Christophe Deloire.
