Margaux Ewen appointed head of Reporters Without Borders (RSF)’s Washington bureau

Ewen replaces Delphine Halgand, who stepped down in October after six years as the bureau’s director but has kept her position on the Reporters Without Borders USA board.

RSF pays tribute to Halgand’s remarkable work and commitment to RSF and its causes, and to the exceptional results she achieved with Ewen’s help. RSF is developing very quickly and has established itself as a leading player in the defence of media freedom in the western hemisphere as well as the rest of the world.

“Margaux Ewen has enthusiastically and effectively waged our battles for journalistic freedom and independence, especially with international institutions, for more than two years,” Deloire said. “Her appointment as head of the Washington bureau will enable RSF to continue and consolidate its development.”

Ewen joined RSF’s Washington bureau in July 2015 as its Advocacy and Communications Director. A lawyer with degrees from the Sorbonne in France and the George Washington University Law School in the United States, she previously worked for the American Bar Association’s Rule of Law Initiative on a project defending human rights in Guinea.
